My friends loves this place and swears by it. So maybe my expectations were too high or I've been spoiled by all the Miami sushi I've had or the 2 lone sushi places that have survived my college town I currently reside. Or maybe it was the residual drama from a bachelorette party gone wrong... Either way, our waitress was so nonexistent we could barely order. We had to track her down while she casually are her lunch outside for 15 minutes. There was a dude sleeping on the bench by the bathroom too, really? The menu is huge and I had trouble picking. I decided on the French roll and was quickly disappointed. It's not the standard French roll I'm used to with crepe wrapped around it and the description was misleading. It was a healthier, cold veggie roll with miso sauce. Still tasty but I begged someone else to share their food with me since I wasn't satisfied. The teriyaki shrimp plate is tasty and the fried rice was good. I liked the soup & salad too. Above all, nothing seemed to stand out but if in the area, I'll give it another shot. Nothing was "express" about this experience at all.

Tokyo Sushi Express (not to be confused with Tokyo Sushi right down the street) is an OK sushi stop! The interior design is pretty dull, and the shop is usually empty when I visit, but the sushi is better quality than going to Publix, Fresh Market or Whole Foods, so why not? Along with sushi, there's hibachi available on the menu as well as some Filipino entrees and appetizers. Standard sushi rolls are sold by 4 rolls here, rather than eight or ten. I guess it's so you can easily mix your rolls without breaking the bank or ordering too much food. The specialty rolls come with more. They have sushi combinations listed on the wall as well, but I went with the Rainbow Roll and Celebrity Roll from the short specialty roll list. The Rainbow Roll was tasty, but I am accustomed to getting 4 different fish on top of the roll as opposed to just three as they did here. The Celebrity Roll is a salmon and avocado roll with shredded Krab and a slice of Jalapeño on top. I enjoyed it but the Jalapeño slices where so thin I could barely taste the heat. All that aside, they were pretty good! However, I ordered take out and didn't receive any napkins in the bag, not nearly enough wasabi to put on my rolls and the soy sauce containers were sealed with just saran wrap rather than a plastic top. They also don't offer Futomaki (my favorite roll of all time), but I wouldn't expect that from a non-japanese owned joint. All in all it was a decent sushi experience. Don't be put off by the interior of the place and give it a try. Not bad!

What a great HOLE IN THE WALL was found. They are a small, maybe 8 table for sit down dining. They service both sushi and Filipino food and are geared to feed the crews from the large cruise ships that dock just down the street. From May 23-June 13 2013 they have a 20% off the menu price. I personal stuffed myself for $15.00. Their Sushi was just as good at twice the price places. Miso soup - excellent. Spicy Tuna - needed more spice but tuna was very fresh Dancing eel roll - awesome Rainbow Roll - Very colorful and great tasting Chicken Teriyaki -perfect I wanted to try their deep fried cheese cake for desert but ran out of room.. ***Things you must get over are the size of the place and everything is served in plastic or styrofoam with plastic utensils*** **They are open from 11am-8pm** so get there early..

So good! I am very impressed by this little restaurant. Great service and tasty food. Plus, it has very reasonable prices for the portion sizes. I am glad I took a chance and checked it out!
